History of Crystal Cruises
Crystal Cruises was established in 1988 as a subsidiary of Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) group. The company launched its first ship, the Crystal Harmony, in 1990, setting a high standard in the luxury cruise market with its innovative design and exceptional service.
In 1995, Crystal Cruises introduced its second ship, the Crystal Symphony, followed by the Crystal Serenity in 2003. Both ships further solidified Crystal Cruises’ reputation for luxury and excellence, offering spacious staterooms, fine dining, and various entertainment options.
In 2015, Crystal Cruises expanded its fleet with the Crystal Esprit, a small luxury yacht offering personalized service and unique travel experiences. The company also launched Crystal River Cruises in 2016, providing luxurious river cruises in Europe, and Crystal AirCruises in 2017, offering high-end air travel experiences with a custom Boeing 777.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Crystal Cruises enhanced its health and safety protocols to ensure passenger well-being. In 2022, the company was acquired by A&K Travel Group, a leader in luxury travel and exploration. Under A&K’s ownership, Crystal Cruises continues to innovate and provide elevated luxury travel experiences.
